Merrill flies Atlantic in 22 hours, to make record return flight with Coronation films. Dick Merrill, the foremost American civil pilot, and Jack Lambie, landed at Croydon after their 3,300 miles non-stop flight from Floyd Bennett Field, New York, in 21 hours 40 minutes. This was Merrill's third transatlantic flight and was accomplished at an average speed of 150 miles an hour. Merrill plans to make a record return flight carrying films of the Coronation.
