Father Enriquez Vasquez Camaraza , a priest who was himself a prisoner of the government , was allowed to enter Alcazar fortress in Toledo to baptise babies born in the stronghold during the long siege . The rebels who were holding out in the subterranean depths of the building had requested the loyalist to send them a priest , Father Camaraza was allowed to go , but in ordinary clothes . For being relayed to the rebels he was blindfolded . Photo shows , Father Enriquez Vasquez Camaraza , ( centre , in civilian dress ) about to enter the Alcazar .
