A recruiting demonstration was held by the 27th London Anti-Aircraft Battalion of the Royal Engineers at their headquarters in Rochester Row, Westminster, and led by Lord Melchett. About 40 members of staff of Imperial Chemical Industries joined up they form a separate company attached to the 27th London Anti-Aircraft Battalion, under the command of Lord Melchett, who became a major.
