1909 plane still takes the air . Though it has joined the old crock . A relic from the dawn of aviation , and Bleriot type XI aeroplane of 1909 is again being fired , the machine is a similar model to the plane in which Bleriot first flew the English Channel . The machine is in the possession of the international Horseless Carriage Corperation at Brooklands , Surrey , near the spot where the latest the giants can be seen showing their paces . It has taken its place in a queer collection of early aircraft , motorcars dating from as far back as 1895 and bicycles of the 1865 era which have been gathered from all parts of the country , put into running order and placed on higher for display and other purposes . Photo shows , the 1909 Bleriot aeroplanes ready to take off at Brooklands , in the cockpit is Mr H G J Hash . 18 August 1936
