Receives ' Victoria Cross ' of the lifeboat service in london . Coxswain Patrick Sliney of Ballycotton , Conty Cork , is in London to receive the gold medla of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution , the Victoria Cross of the service at the Institution ' s annual meeting . Coxswain Sliney was awarded the medal for the recuse of he whole crew of eight of the Daunt Rock Liightshop in a hurricane on the night of February 13 , 1936 . the lifeboat was on service for sixty three hours , the crew only having three hours sleep .
