Farm - Workers ' " Army " Invades London To Protest Against Tithe Bill . March To Hyde Park Demonstrations . Thousand of farmers and labourers in farm dress , waving aloft pitchforks , hoes and other implements , marched through London streets in a two - mile procession to Hyde Park for a huge demonstration organised against the Tithe Bill , the third reading of which is being made in the House . Stretching for two miles , the procession contained farm wagons and heavy carts , in which many of the workers had travelled to London for the demonstration . A deputation is to wait on the Premier tonight ( Wednesday ) to demand the withdrowal of the Bill .
