Flying curate opens air tour of England , sermons , air displays and free flights at Chichester . Determined to take religion to his congregation rather than wait until they come to church the ' Flying Curate ' Rev C B Boulton of Warblington , Hants , using his aeroplane Silver Wings , held the first outdoor service of his ' Flying Mission ' tour of England at Chichester . Viscountess Falkland christened the plane before the first service at Chichester . Following the service the Rev , Boulton gave an air display , including a formation flight led by himself and free flights to members of the congregation .
