Tommy Rose Competes In King ' s Cup Air Race . King ' s Cup air race started from Hatfield Aerodrome . There are 28 entries . The first of the two days of the contest takes the form of elimination in a race over two circuits of a course of 612 miles , making 1,224 miles in all . Fifty per cent of the starters in each of the three groups of aircraft will pass into the final .
