London ' s " Peter Pan " . Baby Antelope Refuses to Grow Up Peggy , the harness - marked baby antelope at the London Zoo , is looked upon as the Zoo ' s Peter Pan . When she was born last February she was the smallest antelope ever known in the Zoo and she has hardly grown at all since then . She is about 18 inches high . Peggy is just recovering her high spirits after her first separation from her mother . A few days ago the mother developed knee trouble [ ? ] and was taken off the sanatorium for treatment . Peggy became thoroughly miserable and moped in a corner until her mother ' s return . Photo shows : Mr . S . J . Hexter tempting Peggy with a piece of apple . Mr . Hexter has been largely responsible for the rearing of the baby antelope . 15 May 1936 *** Local Caption ***
