Last-minute preparations at Vimy Memorial for unveiling by the King . Workmen are rushing to prepare the Vimy Ridge Memorial, greatest of all was shrines and Canada's tribute to her war dead, at Arras , France, in readiness for the unveiling by the King next Sunday (26th of July). . The Memorial , which took ten years to build , contains the names of 11 , 700 men , many of whom fell on the battlefields over which the 138 feet shrine towers . The work of Mr Walter Allward , the Canadian sculptor , the 30 , 000 ton memorial stands on 240 acres of ground presented to Canada by the French Government . It will be floodlit at night .
