Covered waggons of the French army move up to the Eastern frontier . French troops , tanks and motorized divisions are being sent up to reinforce the garrisons of the elaborate and costly system of fortification and the Maginot line on the eastern frontier during the critical period following Germany ' s re-occupation of the Rhineland . French villages near the frontier are once again becoming familiar with the monotonous tramp of marching troops and the dreaded roaring of Army tanks an armoured cars .
