West End producer granted decree nisi against actress wife . Mr Robert Alexander Meyer , Mr Bertie Meyer , the West End theatrical producer of Eaton Row , S W , who asked for divorce from his wife , Rosemary Ames , the actress , because of her misconduct by living at North Astor Street , Chicago , with the co-respondent , Mr Abner James Stilwell , was granted a decree nisi in the Divorce Court . Costs were given against Mr Stilwell . Mr and Mrs Meyer were married in January 1932 at St Martin ' s register office , London . There were no children . Mr Meyer ' s case was that his wife went to America in 1934 and he received a notice that she had obtained in Chicago a decree for divorce on the grounds of desertion . He received a certificate of her marriage to Mr Stilwell on the same day as the decree . Photo shows , Miss Rosemary Ames and Mr Abner James Stilwell after their Chicago marriage . They were married in the apartment of Mr Knowlton I Ames , Miss Ames brother , on the same day that the Chicago divorce was granted . 8 April 1936
