Spring has its perils for the hardy people who live on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Arctic Regions of East Siberia . The last ice provides an extremely dangerous path for the dog teams and reindeer whihch are the only means by which the winter wastes can be traversed in winter . Often , the weakening floes give way and animals and driver are plunged into deep icy water . Photo shows , a dog team , attempts to cross the last ice of a river in the Kamchatka Peninsula .
