New York lift strikers parade through city 80000 out . The business centre of New York has been practically paralysed by the continued strike of liftmen and building services employees . Six thousand of the city ' s most important building have been affected by the strike and over 80000 men are out . Office workers have had to climb many flights to reach their offices . First aid posts have been placed at several points to assist exhausted girls . Waving banners , pickets paraded through New York until they were broken up by police . It is estimated nearly 200 people have been injured and 100 arrests made since the strike began . Photo shows , pickets parading with their banners in front of the Nelson Tower , New York .
