Mr Ernest Gillan of Kentish Town , London a gasfitter , is exhibiting a watercolour landscape at the Royal Academy exhibition . The landscape represents a river scene in Essex in midsummer . It was painted for the most part in the front parlour and the kitchen of Mr Gillan ' s home . He has no proper studio and works in the evening or during the weekend . Mr Gillan had a landscape exhibited at the Academy four years ago . Photo shows Mr Ernest Gillan photographed today on his rounds as a gas fitter . 5 May 1934
