Neon Radio mast beacon to prevent new air disasters . First under erection at Rugby station - visible in fifty mile radius . A neon danger beacon , built to the order of the Air Ministry is being erected at the Rugby Wireless Station to warn aircraft of the presence of the giant masts . The work was put in hand only a few days before the Imperial Airways Liner flew into the wireless masts at Ruysselede , Belgium and crashed with a loss of ten lives . The Beacon will be visible for a radius of fifty miles .
