New Catalan President . Senor Louis Companys , a former Minister of Marine , has been elected President of the Generalidad of Catalonia in place of the late Colonel Macia . The new President is 50 years of age . He has had a long and stormy political career in the Catalan struggle for liberty . As a journalist and a Republican as well as lawyer of the Syndicalists he has been prominent for a quarter of a century and has known arrest and imprisonment .
