Fasting Maharajah dies in pondicherry courtintrigue callled . Sir Tukoji Rao Pusr , Maharajah of Dewas , who fled his state in 1933 following complaints about the administration and fasted for over 68 days as a gesture against the Govenment , has died at Pendicherry . When he ran away it was alleged that he left an empty State Treasury . He came into prominence when he was accused of ill treating the beautiful wife of his 18 year old son . Eventually she was sent back to her family and the husband sought the protection of the British Resident at Inore . A sordid intrigue , featuring a dancing girl who was said to be the power behind the thone , was revealed . It was said that the Maharajah had been influenced in his treatment of his family by the girl .
