Mrs Franklin Crosbie Gowen of the American Consulate General in London , the wife of Consul Gowen of Philadelphia was presented at the first royal court of the season at Buckingham Palace . Mrs Gowen wore a pink satin dress embroidered with pearls , an embroidered train , a collar of pearls and a diamond brooch . She carried an ostrich fan .
