Remarkable Roman remains unearthed in Buckinghamshire . A first century Roman settlement has been unearthed at Great Penn Mead , Buckinghamshire . Under the supervision of Mr F Colmer , the well known historian and archaeologist , the foundation walls of a large Roman villa , tessellated pavements and other treasures have been unearthed . In 1642 the Battle of Wycombe Rye was fought on the ground which covers the Roman settlement . the land is the property of Lord Carrington . A typical hypocaust or heating chamber of a Roman villa in perfect preservation , unearthed on the site . 25 April 1932 .
