Eight year old music prodigy . So marked is the musical talent of an eight year old London schoolgirl , Sheila Mossman , of Greenwich , London , is that the LCC Education Committee is proposing to award her a special scholarship . Sheila has an unusual gift for composing and when only six years old composed two studies . Since then she has six further compositions to her credit . She is a brilliant pianist and at the age of three years played Beethoven 's " Minuet in G " . She began learning music when she was 6 years old . She was selected for a scholarship at the Royal College of Music by Dr Percy Buck , formerly Director of Music at Harrow and now musical inspector and adviser to the London County Council . On account of her health it was thought inadvisable that she should travel to the College of Music each day and so she has been recommended for the award of a special scholarship at the Mary Datchelor School at Camberwell , where she will receive special training at the expense of the LCC .
