One of the most magnificent Stelae at Copan . The figure of the ruler facing the North is being painted by Mr Joseph Linden Smith , the archaeological artist . To the left is seen the initial series ,9,16,10,0,0, recording the year 501 AD . To the extreme left are Thomas Gann and Dr Sylvanus Morley , of the Carnegie Institution of Washington . On the opposite side of the Stelae is a Great Cycle glyph , or time marker of 8,000 years . 1926
