At St Stephens church , St Albans . This lectern , a fine specimen of 15th century Flemish metal work , has been at St Stephen ' s Church for over 400 years . It is claimed by the City of Edinburgh , basing its claim on the supposition that it was taken from the Abbey of Holyrood by Sir Richard Lee , an officer of the Earl of Hertford , who was entrusted by Henry VIII to destroy Edinburgh in 1544 . St Stephen ' s suggest that the lectern was the gift of the Bishop of Dunkeld , Abbot of Holyrood , early in the 16th century .
