Costume of Pouraille; master of Paris. He wears a claque bas (bicorn); tight redingote (frock coat); cravat; striped breeches; and shiny boots. He holds a magnifying glass to examine precious stones. Handcoloured etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory; Rouquette; Paris; 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99. The costumes are from theatre productions Merveilleuses and Pres Saint-Gervais by Victorien Sardou.
