Votive amulet in the form of a retiarius (gladiator) with dagger and net fighting a wild animal that emerges from his erect phallus. The amulet has five tintinnabula (bells) on it. Handcoloured lithograph from Cesar Famin's Musee royal de Naples (The Royal Museum at Naples); Abel Ledoux; Paris; 1836. This rare volume is a catalog of the collection of erotic paintings; bronzes and statues excavated in Pompeii and Herculaneum and stored in a Secret Cabinet at Naples.
