The staging of Tchaikovsky's opera "Iolanthe" was an outstanding event in the cultural life of Soviet Georgia. A scene during a production of Iolanthe by the Paliashvili Opera House and Ballet Theatre, Tbilisi,Georgia Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), was a great Russian composer whose works included symphonies, concertos, operas, ballets, chamber music, and a choral setting of the Russian Orthodox Divine Liturgy.
