Mikhail Yevgrafovich Saltykov-Shchedrin (pseudonym Nikolai Shchedrin) (1826-1889), Russian writer and satirist. Editor of the well-known Russian magazine, Otechestvenniye Zapiski, until it was banned by the government in 1884. His best known work is the novel The Golovlyov Family.
