Kluchevsky, on the Peninsula of Kamchatka, is one of the largest and most active volcanoes in the world. Geologists and other scientists find it a fruitfield for exploration. Scientists of the present try to read the riddle of the past in the lava and the ashes and the flames from the crater of the volcano. Heavy clothing protects them from the cold and occasional bursts of flame from the crater. Supplied By: SCRSS - Society for Co-operation in Russian & Soviet Studies
