31st anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. The German invaders caused enormous damage to the Soviet peasantry. Thousands of villages were reduced to charred debris and ashes by the Hitlerite invaders. Millions of peasants homes went up in flames, together with all the property of their owners. With the generous assistance of the Government of the USSR and of the collective farms large-scale restoration and construction of peasant homes was launched in the villages after the war. 980,000 peasant homes have been built in recent years in the Russian Federation.
