In September 1843 Queen Victoria crossed the English Channel for the first time. Her destination was Tr廧ort in north-eastern France, where the Royal party was met by Louis-Philippe, King of the French. From there the Queen was taken by road to the Ch漮eau d'Eu, the King's country residence. At the end of her five-day stay at Eu, Queen Marie-Am幨ie presented Queen Victoria with a fan, recording the arrival on the quayside in Tr廧ort on 2 September. - Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 - 22 January 1901) was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837, and the first Empress of India from 1 May 1876, until her death on 22 January 1901.
