Kelso (1957) first ran, and won, at Atlantic City on 4th September 1959, and ran again on the same track twice in the same month, being second both times. At three he won eight out of nine, at four, seven out of nine, at five, six out of 12, at six, nine out of 12, at seven, five out of 11, at eight, three out of six; a total of 39 wins and 12 seconds in 63 starts. As a three-and four-year-old he was ridden by Eddie Arcaro, thereafter almost always by I. Valenzuela, who won 22 races on him. The History of Horse Racing by Roger Longrigg, page 285.
