Slamerkin (1769) was bred by James DeLancey II at Bouwerie, by imported Wildair (by Machem's sire Cade) out of an imported unnamed mare by Cub. She won the Four Years Old Plates at Newmarket (S.C.) and Philadelphia in 1773 before going to stud, where she became one of the most influential broodmares in American History. Her sire was repurchased by his breeder Edward Leedes in 1773. The History of Horse Racing by Roger Longrigg, page 110-111.
