Rue Montorgueil at Christmastime. This narrow street outside the market of Les Halles was just round the corner from the church of Saint-Eustache and was filled with shops and pitches on the pavements. It was famous in Paris for the cheapest food of all, selling off end of the line food at amazingly cheap prices. Huge spotlights are on the people who are selling otherwise unsaleable foodstuff whilst in the background is ordinary daylight. With the light shining down from above illuminating him and the turkey, a street seller dressed up like a butcher holds a plucked turkey with feathers for decoration, selling it to a customer who is haggling over the price. 1er arrondissement, Right Bank, Paris, France, circa 1960s.
