Les Halles in the morning. In front of the cafe Au Pied de Cochon is the covered through road by the Meat Pavilion, Baltard pavilion number 3, "le pavillon de la viande". Three of the elite meat porters known as the "Forts des Halles" are carrying the meat to be loaded into the van. Two of the porters are carrying a carcass on their shoulder and one is balancing a carcass on his head. The "fort" is there standing on the steps of the van to carry the meat into the van to hang it. The famous cafe Au Pied de Cochon was much used by the meat porters and workers of Les Halles and tourists.
