Behind him on the truck is a folded up cover for use in the rainy weather. In the background are the Baltard pavilions and in the distance the church of Saint-Eustache. The tall chimney is on the Triperie (tripes) section of Pavillon 6. On the left are fruit wholesalers Omni-Fruits and Poolfruits with displays of their produce in fruit crates and wooden boxes on the pavement and in the road. Photographer Harold Chapman recalls that there were dozens of different makes and kinds of delivery trucks going around the central fresh food market and this powered platform truck carrying the driver was a modern motorised version of the horse and cart.
