An elderly woman is feeding pigeons outside pavilion number 5 in Les Halles which was the Pavillon a la Viande et Triperie, where wholesale meat and tripes were hung. Behind her are posters advertising a cheese called Rouy, a product made by "fermiers reunis" - united farmers. Photographer Harold Chapman recalls he was walking towards the Seine. He recalls the pavilions were like a maze, "you were walking between them, behind them and were surrounded by them." Rue Baltard, 1er arrondissement, Paris, France, circa 1960s.
