In Reaumur Sebastopol station in the Paris Metro, a homeless young man has fallen asleep next to a giant papier mache beer bottle advertising Biere Scotch Premiere, Pelforth "43", Brasseries Pelican Lille-France. Homeless people would in the daytime sleep in the Metro and were sometimes moved on by the limited police squad whose job was to go round Metro stations to remove them, or take them off for their annual bath. The giant central food market of Les Halles was near Reaumur Sebastopol station, hence the homeless could go from there to pick up fruit and vegetables that had dropped on the ground. 2e arrondissement, Right Bank, Paris, France, 1962.
