Picture by Roger Bamber: 22 September 2000: Railtrack Feature on Brighton Stations newly restored roof. KierRail engineer Andy Parkin checks the three acre coverage of toughened glass used in the 瞿28 million, three year renovation of the 1840 built, Grade 11* listed Brighton Railway Station. The restoration of the twin arched station built for the London, Brighton, South Coast Railway, used 8,200 tonnes of scaffolding, 80,000 rivits, 1,700 miles of welding rod and 25,000 litres of paint after each span was removed, sandblasted and replaced. The station used by 500 trains and 30,000 people daily will be ceremoniously opened on Saturday 23 September 2000
