Left Bank This Month was a one-off magazine about the Quartier Latin in Paris, a very rare collector's item. It was produced circa 1959 on a Gestetner by a stencil process invented by the late Ronald Sheridan, written and edited by Verta Kali Smart, with photographs by Harold Chapman, sold in the streets of Paris by inhabitants of the Beat Hotel and featuring among others George Whitman in his bookshop, Le Mistral, which later became the world famous Shakespeare and Company. *** Local Caption *** George Whitman in his bookshop, Le Mistral, 37 rue de la Bucherie, 5th arrondissement, Paris.
