Hillfort on Clay Hill, Warminster, Wiltshire. The story goes that the Devil came to Wiltshire and was going to Devizes. The people had all turned to Christianity and the Devil did not like it. He was carrying a large sack of earth on his back and wanted to dump it on the town in revenge. The Devil met an old man on his way to Devizes and asked how much further he had to travel. The man said that he had left there when he was a yong boy and now he was old. The Devil was furious and dumped the bag of earth, thus making Clay Hill ?005 Credit:TopFoto / Fortean
