La Paz; Bolivia; Fiesta de las 補titas; line of skulls in chapel. The annual celebration is held on 8 November; to commemorate and thank the 馻titas; which are skulls kept in shrines at home. These skulls are considered as helpers and intercessors for the living. The largest celebration is at the Cementerio General (Cemetery General). In this photo; skulls are lined up in the chapel with people behind them. Those who brought them did so to enable them to hear a service and hopefully receive a blessing. Photo 2009.
