Bratislava; Slovakia; detail of wall of charnel house under city center. An old medieval charnel house was discovered in the 1990s as part of an archeological site under the old city center. There are remnants of an old funerary chapel also. Most of the structure was destroyed by invading Turks in the 16th century. The candles are left over from a municipal history day when the space was open to the public. Photo 2010.
