A hero (Theseus?) about to stab the centaur Euritus who had attempted to rape Hippodamia; wife of Pirithous. It provoked the famous war between the Lapiths and the centaurs described by Ovid in his Metamorphoses. Painting on marble excavated in Resina in March 1749.
