Tazobactam sodium. Molecular model of the drug tazobactam sodium (C10.H11.N4.Na.O5.S). This drug inhibits the action of bacterial beta-lactamases, especially those belonging to the SHV-1 and TEM groups. It is used almost exclusively in combination with the broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic piperacillin for the treatment of serious, hospital-acquired infections. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue), oxygen (red), sulfur (yellow) and sodium (violet).
