Sanger birth control clinic, with men and women with babies and prams. US birth control pioneer and activist Margaret Sanger (1879-1966) devoted her life to promoting and distributing contraceptives. She was arrested for founding the first birth control clinic in the USA in 1916, but continued her campaign upon her release. This is the first clinic she founded at 46 Amboy Street, Brooklyn, New York, USA, on 16 October 1916. This photograph, by the Social Press Association, dates from 27 October 1916.
