ORIGINAL:ANCIENT THEATER OF CORINTH a Greco-Roman type constructed before 330 B.C. [it is carved in to the rockbed and can date much older due to it's s type. styled as the carved rocks of the Pnyx in Athens ca. 1500B.C.] / enlarged late Augustan times 27 b. c. and during Hadrian CAVEA WIDTH 121 m. ORCHESTRA DIA. 27.25M in the first AD century; south of the theater; there was built a Roman school of music which was renewed by 鈥楬erod the Attic' in BC 165 and it was used for civilizing activities; till it was turned into an arena. The site of Ancient Corinth was first inhabited in the Neolithic period (5000-3000 B.C.). The peak period of the town; though; started in the 8th century B.C. and lasted until its destruction by the Roman general Mummius in 146 B.C. Limited excavations were conducted in 1892 and 1906 by the Archaeological Society of Athens.
