Two identical glass fragments decorated with a lapwing. These tiny fragments; possibly inlays from shrines and furniture; were made from polychrome glass canes laid side by side to create a picture. The rods were fused; left to cool; stretched to miniaturise; then sliced to form each piece. Country of Origin: Egypt. Culture: Ancient Egyptian. Date / Period: 3rd-1st C BC. Graeco-Roman period. Place of Origin: Alexandria. Material Size: 1.5 x 1.2cms; 0.3cm thick.
