John Cleland won the race in his Cleland SpeedSport Chevrolet. ASCAR is anew oval track form of motor racing for the UK and will have its home at Rockingham Motor Speedway. All the cars are powered by 6 litre V8 engines generating 565 brake horse power (BHP)and are American style saloon cars built for speedway racing with Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ford Taurus and Pontiac Grand Prix body styles on a spaceframe chassis. The cars are easily capable of 200 mph. The races last 100 miles or 1 hour duration.
