The second (seda,- that is, secunda) is that part of the body relating to spiritual things. The third (terna) is that in which nutrition takes place, while the fourth (quarta) is that part which contains the power of generation. This diagram reveals the influence of alchemy on mediaeval medicine - the areas of the Three Principles of Salt, Mercury and Sulphur are clearly defined.
