The divinatory arts, according to the English esotericist, Robert Fludd (1574-1637). While there appears to be seven divinatory arts, there are in fact eight, for Fludd regards man himself as the main source of the chief method of divination, divine influx: this is why the radiant triangle of the Godhead hovers over the man's head. At his feet is the monkey, no demonic simian, but a symbol of Nature's Ape - that is, Man, who seeks to practise art, or to imitate the creative process of Nature. From Book II of Utriusque Cosmi Maioris, 1617.
